I just bought a 1988 hydrostream voyager xt. It was sitting in a shed for 10+ years and a tree grewup right next to the boat. As it grew it scraped the hull pretty bad. It looks just like dock rash. Anyways its an area about 6" by 1.5'. Its scraped halfway through the fiberglass and deeper in a 1" by 1" area. How should I go about fixing this? Whats the best brand?

So let me make sure im understanding this. You are saying that the tree grew up the side and scratched through the gel into the fiberglass. I just find it hard to believe because from what I have seen as a tree grows it will conform to whatever it grows against. Such as fence posts etc... but hey I guess ya learn something every day.

Is the fiberglass just scratched or did the pressure actually bust the fiberglass. You would most likely need to see the backside to determine that. Im guessing if its actually scratched half way through the fiberglass as you say you will need to get to the backside and apply a patch of sorts for strength. then possibly grind the scratch and apply some thickened resin with microfibers. Lastly new gel coat or paint.

Thats how I would do it but im not too experienced.. So im sure someone will chime in with more knowledge
