Ok, I know this is a boating forum but today I think I understand the concept of the effects a full moon is supposed to have on people.

I was on my way home from work today. I left early to drive my daughter to her art classes.

As I drove into my neighbourhood and start around a gentle turn (It's important to note it was a gentle turn as you can see around it as you approach it) I noticed a father with his two young boys on their bikes.

I'd guess the boys to be around 4 and 6. Dad was watching them as the traffic on the road between the park on the other side was busy but normal in an urban neighbourhood. He was teaching the little guys the proper way to cross the road with their bikes.

Since I noticed them and there were no cars coming the opposite direction, I stopped to allow him time to have them cross. Not 1, or 2, but 3 cars swerved around me into the opposing lane with total disregard for this man and his children. As each passed, they looked at me like I was a complete idiot for stopping in the middle of the lane.

The father eventually crossed safely and thanked me for stopping. However, I have to be honest, my initial thought was to drive around the neighborhood and seek out this idiots but common sense prevailed.

However, one of these geniuses lives just down the road from me. As I passed by her home she was in the driveway carrying a purse and removing her 3-4 year old son from the rear seat of the car, oblivious to what she'd done. I wonder what her reaction would've been had it been her and her son on the bikes at the time. I was too angry to stop as my mouth would've got me in trouble, but in the next few days, I plan to 'educate her' on proper driving and attentiveness in a neighbourhood full of small children.

I wonder if I'll ever see these idiots again? I write this as I look at the window and notice the glow of the full moon. Could that be the reason? Nah, just wishful thinking.

I'm sure I'll bump into them again. Most likely at the ramp launching their boats:eek:

Thinking is a lost art.

Ain't that the truth!!!

Same sort of story...

The route to my boat club/launching ramp is past a primary school. The school straddles a hill, and on each approach is a speed hump, and many young children cross the road each school day... On too many occasions I have been heading down to the ramp, like 8.30am, I've slowed for the hump, only to be overtaken, on a blind hill, in a school zone, by some ID-10-T. Makes me see red when I know they can't possibly have seen in front of me, or why I have slowed...

The kids there know how to run fast!

Re: BAD DRIVERS - Full Moon Rising

A full moon can trigger a lot of different things. Fins tend to hit more. Being a retired paramedic a full moon meant no sleep. Seems that all the weirdos got hurt on on that night. From getn stuck on a toilet or that 500lb hefer who had a heart attack three floors up. When it comes to drivers most turn into idiots when they hear a siren coming their way be it a full moon or not.
