1988 Evinrude 48sp... seems there is no "click" sound when engaging the switch on my motor. I tested the ohms and tested 2.8, and the power in is showing a srong current. Is there a way I can bypass this with the red lever and priming bulb till I get a new one? Seems a new runs close to $200. So it might be awhile.... I thought I read somewhere on a post here that moving the lever counter-clockwise then priming it manually will get gas to the carbs. Do I turn the lever back to an operating position when it starts? Thanks...

maybe I should re-do the question... and 1st ask do you always hear a "click" when you push the primer key in? Or could it be very quiet? Right now I hear nothing at all with the cover off...

check ground on primer, they are none for corrosion.
