Bad ignition coil

If my 1987 YAMAHA PRO-V 150 2 STROK ,has one bad ignition coil is it better to just change the bad one or should you change all six?

Also can one bad ignition coil make my motor stall run lean back fire smok more?


Need help in this matter thank you.

You asked IF you had one bad coil. What makes you think you have one bad coil? It's a simple matter to check if you know how to use an ohm meter. Doctors don't replace both of your knees if only one is bad and the same philosophy applies to your ignition coils. If they are within spec there is no reason to replace them. A bad coil cannot cause an engine to run lean. Because that cylinder is not firing, it will foul the plug on that cylinder however. It can also make it stall since the engine is running on one less cylinder. Whether it smokes or not is a maybe. The fuel going through the bad cylinder will not be burned so perhaps mixing with hot exhaust from the good cylinders it might cause more smoke than usual.
