I believe it is a 1989 Evinrude 40hp. Was running down the lake great, and within about 20-30 minutes of running, the boat just died. It would start right back up, but as soon as you gave it any throttle (I would say above 1000 RPMs) it would start cutting out and die if you didn't back off. We turned around and headed back to the ramp. We could only go at about a fast idle pace all the way back, ran like this for about an hour. We got back to the ramp and it died, and this time it was very hard to get started again.
Once we finally got it loaded and back home, it started right up the next day and would rev up fine (hooked to a water hose)
We are 90% sure its the powerpack/coil, just wanted to make sure before I ordered it.
