That's a great link, TR. Hopefully enough people will buy the PLBs to make prices go down some. Three hundred dollars is pretty good when compared to EPIRBs, but still enough to keep the average person from buying them.

One thing that will be interesting, however, is to see if people start buying them for an individual boat, instead of being purchased for each person. In a way, they could serve as a "poor man's EPIRB." If that begins to happen, it could be enough to get the price per unit to start dropping.

Good find, TR. I am going to buy SOMETHING in the very near future. I do want to do a little research before I buy something. I never go offshore more than 7 or 8 miles, but I sure can't swim that far. I also go out alone a lot. Whatever I buy, I hope it is a waste of money. It is one necessary item I hope I never have to use.
