wondering if i have a bad stator, checked rectifier, had 22 volts at idle and 50 volts at fast idle, had 11.4 volts at battery at slow and fast idle and 11.4 volts at stater selnoid, tach is working,,,could the stator be corroded and not making good contact or are the windings going? trying to nail this down before i spend 250.00 nonreturnable dollars,,,thanks for all your help

Re: Bad Stator ??

If that's AC voltages you measured, it's from the stator and completely normal. Can't believe it's DC, since 50 VDC just ain't possible. If the wiring is OK, you most likely need a new rectifier. The voltages were measured between a pair of yellows, right?

To verify rectifier output, just measure across battery terminals with motor at a fast idle. You should get => 13.5 VDC.

the voltage i measured was ac, took measurement on the terminal block of the rectifier where the two yellows from the rectifier are attached, at fast idle i had 11.4 dc volts at battery

Re: Bad Stator ??

Stator is clearly fine. Make sure wiring to/fr rectifier is OK, measure voltage across battery as outlined and replace rectifier as needed. That's it.
