bad tach

I Have a 1992 5.0 cobra tach stays at zero. Can it be that I have a bad a alternator or just bad connections.

The tach pickup is from the coil, not the alternator.
Might check that you are getting power and ground along with the signal from the coil to the tach. If all is there, you need a new tach.
