BAD Winner

So who can tell me how you deal with a bad winner.

The guy has done good for himself, but the self centered son of a #$$$ has got this thing about disrupting or undermining other peoples lives/businness.

He did not get this way on his own, he was thrust into it 20+ years ago because he had the equipment, definetly not the brains.

What to deal with?

If you dont like what he does, tell him so. Is someone forcing you to keep company with him? If he is telling something that is untrue, or doing something illegal, then that is a different story.

If someone is an s-stirrer, most people see though the scuttlebutt and take it for what's it's worth - nothing. Those that do not, may actually enjoy the story-telling.

Sometime schoolyard bullies, just grow up to be adult bullies. A lot of money, does not necessarily equal a lot of self-esteem.

He is a neighbour, and I do not want to rock the boat all that much, OK I do, but I know there will be fall out.

You can't change other people, if you want to...
then the problem is yours not his.
Getting back to level ground from where you are is a difficult road.

I work with people like that. Just nod, smile and agree with them. Then do it your way. It works great for me.

One of the guys I work with is so annoying that he even admitted he was giving him self a head ache listing to him self. These people like to think they know it all. What I find in most cases they know nothing and are full of BS.

Funny I should run across this thread. I am dealing with a very similar situation. The bonehead I am having trouble with is spouting his nonsense all over work. Good thing I have learned that the more he complains, the less anyone pays attention. He has made enemies in every department. Its pathetic really. I know some day he is going to push the wrong button and end up without a job. ( i can only hope)
The bottom line is that he is a petty annoyance, nothing more.

Sometimes these jerks can get downright dangerous. There was one where I worked that had union seniority that made him immune (he thought). One day I was on my hands and knees in the control office of a huge plasma cutting table, working on hot controls, and he pushed his way into that small space just because he was curious, almost forcing my hand into hot electrics. I forcefully evicted him and went back to work. Later he pulled the same thing while several of us were working on the system under time pressure, and I again evicted him. Then he picked a fight. I acted real lame and stupid (body language) and invited him to throw the first punch. Co-workers that knew me were very disappointed when he didn't throw it. They knew that I have enough martial arts knowledge that I would have handily stuffed him into the nearest chit can without breaking a sweat.

Eventually he claimed disability for a back injury, and was caught re-roofing his house while supposedly injured too badly to work. Of course he then got fired for cause. Just goes to show you that if you give these jerks enough rope, they eventually hang themselves.

situation, happened this weekend, a friend and her boyfriend, whom i was not fond. well, he acted up at my house, i escorted him to the street, NEVER TO RETURN here again, without being arrested. his girlfriend thanked me. she is welcome, here, without him.
