I was "told" (with an emphasis on told) that I had removable baffles on my 89 scarab. Aside from being loud is there a benefit/downside from removing these? Performance wise will it do anything?

What are removable baffles ???????????

Who did this "Telling" were they a qualified tech. or just someone with a boat that wanted to give some info he thought was true? Hard to tell from here.

I can see the said "baffle" that is being referred to in the back end of the pipe on the outside of the boat, has a single screw that looks to remove it. As far as I know the guy selling it was knowledgeable but that doesn't mean anything. The "baffle" looks similar to any baffle I can pull up on a google search. I can snap a pic tomorrow.

Ayuh,... Obviously, it ain't "Stock"....
Removing the baffle could possibly Lean the motor,+ cause Problems to go along with the added Noise...

I would look at it like changing to a performance muffler on your car, It will sound different, but can you tell a speed difference, probably not. Unless you go by the thought that louder is faster.:D

Re: Baffles

Leave 'em in. The exhaust on a boat is large enough not to be restrictive so you would gain nothing. 'nutcase
