Re: baja question

OK, better link now. 15 is a fair starting price, if everything is good. We can't tell through pictures though. Have it surveyed.

Re: baja question

Seems like an extremely fair price to me. The salt water is a concern for sure, I think I would look it over real good first.

If your looking for Baja's, try this site: http://bajaboatsforsale.com/

See several of those on Lake Hartwell. Loud and fast! A very thorough inspection and a marine survey would probalbly pay for itself. The price from What i have seen in this area is about average.

Re: baja question

If it includes the trailer its priced right in the ballpark for the year. As to beign "worth it", I rarely think the price people pay for Baja's are worth it, but that's just me.

thanks for the help bubba, what boats should i look at that has somewhat of the look of a baja with a sport cuddy and in the 22-25ft range and is upper quality?

Re: baja question

the body of water we are on gets anywhere from 3-5ft waves at times so i need something that takes rough water well.also like to have some speed but don`t have to be the fastest on the water.some overnight stays for 2 ppl also.

Re: baja question

There are a lot of good ones out there but for the "look" I like the Wellcraft and Formula boats. But, it really depends on what you want to use it for. If it's need for speed then the Baja should fill the bill, but its a large bill that just grows bigger every time you open the throttle. ;)

Formula boats are over-priced... and Wellcraft/Scarab's always seem underpowered.

The best bang for the buck for folks wanting to go fast and look good has always been a Baja.

Re: baja question

Thanks everyone. I have found a nice 1994 crownline with only 60 hours on it. Here's my prob, the boat is in Texas and I am in new York, have any of uhad a boat surveyed and shipped without looking at it, any info would be great.

Re: baja question

Well, as long as the pictures he sends of the Crownline look good (and make sure you have pictures of EVERYTHING) I wouldn't have a problem with it. Maybe even a video of it running and showing the guages? Getting a marine survey is a good idea, but if the price is right and the pictures are there, I'd have it shipped to me with no worries. Depending on where it's located in TX, there's a good chance it has never seen salt water.

EDIT: come to think of it, I'd be worried about that Crownline. 60hrs of use in 16 years is almost absurd. There has to be a reason for it, unless he means 60 hours on a rebuilt engine.

Re: baja question

Hmmm, I'm going to have to....disagree with you on this one.;)

You see a few with 330 horse 454's... (which is still lower horse than most Baja's) but my point was, Scarab is kind of the king of small blocks. I've looked a several 29's that have twin 5.7 mags.... most 29 Baja's have twin 454's or 496's.

Baja is just as guilty, whole bunch of them out there hidin' 4.3s behind thier flashy stickers. Bottom line, they put whatever (currently available) the customer wants or can afford in front of the prop.

Re: baja question

Actually Baja and Wellcrafts (very bottom) should be down by the bottom of your list.

Look at Velocity first just make sure your looking at a Stepp built not a regal they are faster, better built, better handling and use a lot less gas.

Also look at Superboat.

Check out the scream and fly.com web forum you'll find lots of info and a great buy sell section.
