For size comparison, that pier is 6' wide where the eagle is standing.



It appears he caught himself a catfish.

We have an unihabited island near the mainland that is a popular "float" spot. A pair of eagles nest in a tall pine tree nearby that overlooks the area. A school of baitfish cruised by and, man, before you could spit, both of the eagles spotted the school and came swooping in for lunch. I didn't have time to turn on the camera before they were back in the nest. Breathtaking scene!

Cool video! He caught about 1/2 dozen little fish at once.

I like the end where he has that huge fish in the head-first aerodynamic position. The fish flapping his tail adds a bit of help to the flying effort.

Here is a pic I grabbed last Thanksgiving day. My son and I stood 10' from him while he ate. Very majestic and inspiring.
