I was thinking of using baltic Birch plywood to rebuild my transom. Very strong, rigid plywood with many plies. I was going to treat it with a boron additive to prevent rot. http://www.lectros.com/htm/02_timber.htm <br /><br />Has anyone travelled this route before?

I have used Baltic Birch, in fact the shop is full of some 3/4" stuff right now. It don't have waterproof glue but if sealed perfectly it should hold up well. It is stronger than the normal ply you find these days. Chief

If you are replacing something that is going to cost you alot of $$$$ anyways and is an important part of you boat...go with the best wood! Marine Grade Fir AB is what you want for this application. <br /><br />You could also go even better with a composite like Coosa Blueboard.
