Baltimore Inner Harbor Free Docks??

Anyone know any waterfront restaurants in or near the Baltimore Inner Harbor that have free docks. All I know of is the pier at Fells Point and Nicks Seafood.

If there are no other FREE ones, where can you dock and pay dock master fees??

It seems like there are a ton of waterfront restaurants but none offer docks??

I have been wondering this too! I am in the planning stages of making a trip to inner harbor, (hopefully sometime this summer!)

Are there any free docks at all? Even if they are not right at the restaurants but within walking distance of restaurants and other attractations.

It's been a few summers but last time I visited I didn't find any free dockage. I tied up in the canal across from the Hard Rock Cafe. I thought that was a good location.

If you tie up in the canal or just outside the attractions, the harbor master personnel will pedal by and if you are not in the boat, they will toss in a bill that can be mailed. They do take your registration numbers to cross check. If you happen to see them you can pay them right there. Couple of years ago it was 5 bucks. Probably has gone up by now.

Blue Crab: If you are launching out of Norteast, then figure about a 2 hour ride from Turkey Point if you are large enough to maintain about 20 MPH. You do not need to stay in the channel but stay well off Aberdeen, at least a mile to port since there is a spit of rock there.

On a good weekend, the bay will have a decent chop from the traffic on it. At night if the weather is decent, the bay settles down to a nice ride. You can pass either side of Poole's Island. Hart-Miller Island is relatively well protected and offers Campsites. It is only about 1/2 hour from the harbor so if you are capable of overnighting, it is a good location.

I did the trip in a 15 footer and a 20 footer. The 20 footer was better!

Frank, Thanks for the info. I haven't been any farther south on the bay than Turkey Point yet. (Old boat didn't allow it) But now with the newer one, i am just itching to get out there and explore the water! Picked up a chart book while I was down this weekend (very helpful). Dually noted about Aberdeen. I plan on making trips down the bay several times this summer, each one a little farther than the last. There is just so much to see!

When you say toss a bill, do you mean a fine, or just the normal fee for docking?

Also, is the canal right there at the shopping pavillions?
