Re: Bananas in boats

Yes a common myth around here, there is even a charter guy in Prince Rupert that has No Bananas painted on the side of his boat. Personaly I think its a lot of BS. We take bananas and other kinds of fruit with us all the time, we have not been smitten by Neptune. When we were on holidays in the Dominican Republic we went snorkling on a coral reef, the tour guide supplied bananas to feed the reef fish, they gobbled up the little pieces like candy. This is one superstition that I just ignore.

it's not a superstition around here; it's a True Fact. During tournaments, one guy will hide banannas on a competitor's boat. When fishing gets slow, the captain will tear his own boat apart looking for them. No bananna life savers; no bananna chapstick; no banannas in your digestive tract. It's very very serious.

We hear that Fruit of the Loom removed the bananna from the label so as not to lose the boating market. Anyway, it would be creepy if a guy you are fishing with had a bananna in his underwear....

If you don't have a cooler or a cool place to store do not bring bananas. We took some on a trip and about an hour into the cruise someone went to eat one and it was all mushy goo..

1) You don't get great services on a boat with your banana phone.

2) If you throw the peel over board, you could make a skier slip on banana peel.

3) You might get attacked by a troop of monkeys as they swim better than an Olympic swimmer.
