been reading alot of threads on laying motors up for the off season, it seems to be all about fogging, stabil, and changing lu fluid. how many of us pull the prop and check for the mess that could be lurking behind it, just waiting to destroy a seal and cost big bucks to fix? even if you dont fish, this is what you may find!!

+1^^^ I know Mercruiser recommends checking once every 2-3 months during the season and once when you lay it up for the winter.

Aw, come on Nwcove that's to easy to do. You know we all wait until the gear case takes a dump from having water in it.

I check for line and other items at least once a month or every third time after the boat is used. It is a lot cheaper than a new or rebuilding a LU. JMO
