I recently bought a used boat with a considerably less-used outboard. The outboard is a 1999 Johnson 5hp (J5REE) and the first I have owned. Naturally, I don't have the owner's manual but I did purchase the Seloc manual that covers that model. However, it's not of much use as far as using the outboard goes. I haven't been able to find a user's manual for sale anywhere (quite a few people sell the service manual though). So I have a simple, basic question:.
It is a two-stoke engine so I would assume i uses an oil/gasoline mix. However, the Seloc repair manual mentions that some models of Johnson 2 stroke engine have some sort of oil reservoir that mixes oil into the gasoline. Am I supposed to be using an oil/gas mix? If so, is it the "normal" 2 cyle mix?
And does anyone know where I can guy the owner's manual?
Thanks,
Michael Brock
