I am grateful for all the support I have found here on the forums from all you guys especially Hkeiner,Laddies, rick,Amdrules and Tashadaddy.
Ok. I am getting the boat ready for the season and have 3 questions for my 1994 175HP Mercury O/B.

I read in the manual that the oil pump link rod alignment mark should line up with the casting mark and it does not. I hate to change things on a motor that is running well, but I do feel like I go through a lot of oil. Should I adjust this?

I need to change some hoses out and it looks like they are attached with cable ties. Is that what they are or are they special marine clamps?

This 1 1/2" fuel filler hose should be changed, right? Or is this just an outer jacket? It is really splitting badly.

Yes by all means replace the hoses immediately. They are pitiful and a serious danger being fuel lines.
The other question on the oil someone else better qualified will have to answer. I would think a Marina could answer that easily for you.

If that hose starts flaking on the inside you will need to clean your tank, fuel filter, and carbs

Something else. I don't believe the hose clamps on the Gas fill hose are marine approved clamps either. They do look correct on the Fuel Filter line however.

Those are special zip ties available at Mercury Parts dealers. I suggest that they be installed with a zip tie gun tool.

Or just use a quality metal hose clamp.

That large fuel filler hose ( I believe) should have had a green stripe, indicating it's fuel safe.

As per your picture, the link rod on the oil pump is on the right side... disconnect the rod and rotate the ball and lever on the pump about 60 degrees clockwise and this will put the link rod on the left of the pump and then you will notice two more tick marks, it should line up with the first one at idle. If it does not, then lengthen or shorten the rod as necessary.

Have a great day
