There's one important contributing factor here that we have all missed. It would appear that he trimmed up too much in an attempt to reach maximum speed. You can see this in the clip before the crash when the boat is getting squirrely from the regular chop. trimming up adds speed but reduces stability. I personally will only trim up at WOT when the water is like glass and there is nobody anywhere near me and my boat has a more stable hull and less top speed by around 20mph.
