I have a 85 Bass Catcher, I have had it for a couple years now. Has a 40horse yamaha, I like this boat alot. Im in process of redoing the decks right now, just bought some 3/4 inch marine plywood. I was looking at Max Bond marine epoxy. Has anyone used this brand? I have taken the carpet out and will be spraying Ultra Tuff where the carpet was.
So do i have to use etching primer on the epoxyed wood before spraying? or just the aluminum?
Also, should I epoxy both sides of the wood?
Or do I have to even put epoxy on the wood since Im going to spray it?

Thanks for any info.

Re: Bass Catcher Pro Decks

After you have the wood cut to fit the layout of your boat your going to want to glass the deck. Glassing the deck will give it the strength and durability your going to want to have. Also can you post some pictures of it as well.

Re: Bass Catcher Pro Decks

ok....a couple of things.....

first....

welcome to i boats....:) this is boat university and you just enrolled !

read lots here.....read the completed projects forum. there are several good tinny restos there......including lundwanissa's.

when the new deck goes down...as mentioned above....you use fiberglass and glass the whole deck to the boat...so the deck and the boat become one peice.....(the deck is also called the sole of the boat)

do not use chopped strand matt with epoxy just use woven cloth.

the etching primer is for the aluminium not the epoxy.....

make sure that the decking stuff you are using is compatible with epoxy.

start a thread ....and post pictures....we can help...

cheers'
