Man, the Bass have had lockjaw aroung here lately, untill I tried something I had never tried before. I know this lake like the back of my hand having fished it for about fourty years. So I know the feeding areas well. I decided to try using a small 4" weightless worm, (color didnt matter), and just throw it out over the feeding area and twich it around a little like an injured baitfish. Man, they really came alive, we caught about 20 largemouth in about two hours. Seems they were not interested in actually chasing anything, but they would gladly just swim up to this bait and suck it in. You could run any other bait through there and they wouldnt touch it. Turned an otherwise fishless day into a hoot.

have run into the same ordeal...sorta.exept i like running a 4" skirted grub weightless.it is an attention getter.dosent work every time but it works often enouph to keep me using it.a trick i learned off of a friend of mine which works as well is a dry fly and a bobber.sounds funny but i watched it work one day when we were seeing no action.tie a dry fly to your line leaving about 6ft of tag line attach a med sized round bobber to the end of the tag line.and just twitch it back in. bober gives enouph weight to cast without sinking the fly.give it a whorl. works great on crappie and sun fish too.

Ive used this tactic on trout with a clear torpedo float and three or four feet of leader and a fly with spinning tacle. You are right, it works quite well. I never thought about it with Bass though, I bet it would be great doing the same similar thing Im doing, only alowing it to sink a bit, Great Idea, thanks, Ill have to try it sometime.
