i went to the lake the other day with a fully charged battery and about three hours later i didnt have enough power for the engine to even turn over and im confused as what could have caused it to die so fast (its a deep cycle multi purpose battery)

i do have a stereo hooked up with a subwoofer but i i never run the stereo off of just the battery for more than a couple of minutes at a time. every time we stop and swim i turn the radio off cause im paranoid its going to die.

so i don't know if it has an alternator and thats what the problem is. but im just kind of confused all around any help would be great!

Re: Battery/Alternator problem????

Only a couple of things cause a battery to go dead:

1: A bad battery. Have it tested. Free at many places

2. A battery is like a bucket. You only get out of it what you put into it. So if you are pulling more juice out than you are putting in, you are losing ground and it will wind up discharged. Same goes for a leaky bucket. You could have an electrical leak (short circuit). The reason tashasdaddy asked what motor you have is so we can figure out how much your alternator puts out...if you even have and alternator.
