I have a 1997 evinrude V4 90 hp ocean pro , I bought the motor and the guy gave me all the cables and wires except the battery cables...

I am making them up , but I cant find a location that is easily recognizable as the place were the factory had the negative lead hooked up!

I took the lower cover off to help see things better, but it isnt obvious yet.

anyone know where the cable is bolted to the block?

thanks

I had the same problem when I got my J150, I found loose nuts on the starter solenoid, thats where they go. Max volts to the starter.
It was fairly obvious looking at the color of the wires already on the solenoid.

The ground cable can get bolted anywhere on the engine block. It is one big ground block.

NEG cable should ground to block. not solenoid. solenoid has POS cable from battery and pos cable to start, then switch wires.

yea you can put it baisically anywere you want on the block but the best bet is to put it on the starter which draws the most amps

well I would think the factory bolts it to the same place on each motor they build that year.

I dont want to takeoff a head bolt or anything that is important or needs a specific torque!!

the starter bolts have a counter bore, so that is a bad spot... many other spots have paint under the bolts..that doesnt seem like a good spot.

I was hoping to find a bare aluminum flat to attach to..

my johnson 50 has the wire to the top of the block...real easy to spot...this motor has a lot more junk bolted onto it!!

not as easy tp figure..
