Anyone have a strong recommendation for a 12V/6V Battery Charger which has both the trickle charger @ 2-3 Amps and the 10 Amp quick charging feature.

Please help!!!

Google Schumacher chargers. They have several models that meet your requirements.

I have looked both locally and online, however the reviews on most Schumacher's are not very favorable. :( So, I thought I'd reach out here to see what the "experience" may be saying. :)

I've owned many Schumacher chargers and maintainers over the years and never had a failure. Always ask the question "Why" or "What Happened" when talking with someone about their dislike of a product.

That's great to hear! Thank you.

+1

I own the Marine SSC-1500 Smart Charger, 2, 10 and 15 amps Plus maintenance mode for Flooded, AGM and GEL Cell.
I use it mostly on the neighbors trucks and my lawn tractor.

And the SC-300 used mostly to maintain the Boat.
At 3 amps it is more than just a maintainer.
Once the battery is full, it comes on for about one seconds every 3 minutes.

Both have worked fine for years.
Admittedly the Fan in the Big Charger is notorious for becoming noisy after a while.
For $5 on ebay, a replacement Ball bearing, common computer fan, plugs directly in and solved the noise issue.

Keep in mind that reviews are mostly going to be coming from the people that have an issue or just like to complain.
You never hear from the silent majority that like the product.
Schumacher prints their service contact right on the product and it states that if you are having a problem to not return it to the store, but to contact them to get it resolved.

True! I just wish the SSC-1500A was good for 6v as well. :/

Re: Battery Charger RECOMMENDATIONS

The 6 volt requirement limits the selection drastically.
The SC-600A may be more to your liking.
The difference between 6 and 10 amps is much less than the numbers indicate.

What do you have that is 6 volts?

Nothing in 6V currently, just wanted to the built in capacity if needed in the future. :/

Re: Battery Charger RECOMMENDATIONS

Then go with the SSC-1500A!

Nothing has been designed for 6 volts since the 1960's.
I recently sold a 1965 VW Bug that was originally 6 volt but had been upgraded to 12 volts back in the 80's.
The odds of you acquiring something that is 6 volts is slim.
If you do, just buy another charger that has the 6 volt option.
