If this battery is used for starting the motor, livewell, and running lights, get a marine starting battery.

If it is used for a trolling motor also, get a marine dual purpose battery ( deep cycle and starting battery in one).

Batteries labeled "Deep Cycle" are not intended for use as a "Starting Battery". If you use only one battery, buy one that's labeled "Deep Cycle/Starting" or "Dual Purpose". If you are running a trolling motor off this battery I hope you have a set of oars along and/or you can pull start your engine as eventually you will kill that battery.

A starting battery (like one in a car) produces large amp in very short time (CCA), and needs to be topped up very quickly, if it is allowed to drain below a certain level, the power cells might not recover and dies.....

A deep cycle battery or a leisure battery as it is also known, does the opposite. It allows power to be drained very low and still be able to recover. Perfect for powering equipments in a boat or caravan.
