Is there anyone i can hook up my portable fish finder straight to the regular battery so i dont have to use 8 d batteries? haha

it has a positive and negative wire running, i just wasnt sure if i had to add a resistor, or fuse or something.

8 D batteries gives you 12 volts. I would absolutley add an inlne fuse.

Yup, I did it with my old Eagle fishfinder. I added a 12 volt wire (+ and -) with a cigarette lighter plug, then just plugged it in. The lighter plug has a built-in fuse, and the receptacle on the boat is also fuse protected. Works great! :D
