Battery level indicator for 12v

Hi,

Brand new here. I converted a wooden canoe into an electric boat and hoping to meet some people here with a similar interest as i have some pretty grand ideas on where to take it from here.

I am running a Minn Kota 68lb Trolling Motor on the back of the canoe. The motor has a battery level indicator on-board but it's too hard to read because its too far away and you can't see it in sunlight anyway.

Does anyone know where I can find a very simple battery level indicator that I can hook up to my 12v batteries. I would just like an easy way to check the voltage on the batteries while I'm sitting in my seat.

Their are two ways you can go. A voltage meter or a percent of charge meter both read voltage the difference is in how it is displayed. Personally I like the percent of charge so I don't have to remember what volts is what charge level.

Some FF/GPS's will also show the voltage in your battery.

A good 15v analog meter is the best if you can seal it and feed through a momentary on push button. I have used deep cycles on my ap55 minn kota and find that when you get to 12.1 under step 4 on the speed control you are about 60% of your battery capasity. Interstate doesn't recomend going below 12.4 volts static (no Load). Fishfinders ar good but you must verfy all of your conections, a dirty fuseed connector can drop your voltage to your finder. How fast does the Can go? You may have to get the hair dryer out and put more pitch in your prop for water sking. Show us some Pics. I didn't know they made a 68# unit.
