battery location

I'm decking out a Lowe 18' Deep V boat. I was intending to place the troll motor battery towards the front about 3 feet in front of the driver and 5 ' back from the front of the boat. My brother told me I should put it in the back so my boat would plane better and he also said if I got an onboard charger which I may down the road..it would be hard for me to do that with the battery toward the front. I still have a day to change my mind. Should I put it in back or will it be ok up toward the front?

Re: battery location

[colour=blue]Without the battery, does it need extra weight in the rear (most boat's don't)?

I think that the location you are thinking about is AOK.

Re: battery location

i run a 18' center console aluminum. deep cycle trolling battery in console, stating battery in stearn, both centered in the boat, due to built in tank. getting too much weight in the stearn can cause poor hole shot, distribute the weight.
