battery lug nuts

My battery came with wing nuts. I want to replace with hex nuts.
This may be a stupid question, but can I use any nuts? I think they are 5/16 - and 3/8 + right?

Have at it. Just remember that terminals corrode and rust. The wing nuts usually work fine but to each his own.

Stainless nuts are a better choice and while you are at it, add stainless star washers to provide exceptional electrical connection.
