Re: battery moves

Any boat battery must be bolted down to avoid being thrown around in rough water. Battery not tied down can do a lot of damage.

Belchy

Re: battery moves

It sounds like your battery box is alot bigger than your battery. You could put some tie downs inside the box, look at the link, there are some towards the bottom of the page. I have also seen some at auto parts store that you can screw down little brackets on both sides of the battery and do the same thing that is in this link battery tie down (here at iboats) or you could get a bigger battery to fill the box. :D

Re: battery moves

2nd season with the new boat, eh? Your dealer either undersized your battery or oversized your box - sounds like a customer service failure to me.

yah, don't let it slide around - shim it with some 2x4 scraps until you get around to the permanent solution. it'll take a beating on the trailer and on the water - shorten its life.

BTW that battery will live a longer life if you keep it charged in the off-season.

Mine is screwed to the deck, well, sub-deck. But it's aluminum.

Re: battery moves

Take the battery out of the box, see if the box moves about freely. If so, look around for the method by which the battery box is fastened to the boat. Sounds like something has come undone, which is not uncommon for a boat!

Re: battery moves

You Should have a couple of brackets screwed to the floor, that the battery Strap is fed thru to hold Everything down,+ secure....

These aren't the best pictures,... But, you can see the little retaining brackets.......

Here's a Much Better shot.........

I'd say your brackets either pulled out, or aren't hooked over the strap......
