Hwy guys I was checking stator and the battery voltage doesn't change as throttle is given. Does this have an electrical issue? Help I'm looking at the boat to buy it!!

So, you checked the voltage when not running and running? Should slowly increase after it runs a few minutes. It's not an instant thing.

If not charging, most likely cause is a blown rectifier. You'll have to test it to diagnose for sure.

Thanks for the reply FR. When motor was not running, battery voltage was 12.08. When running it was exactly the same. I only let it run for a few minutes. When we applied throttle there was no voltage change. (I remember with my old merc 650 the voltage would immediately go up under throttle, and then back down when throttling down. But even at idle it was at 12.5 VDC or more. Are the OMC breed different in that it takes a few minutes for the battery to read a higher voltage?)

Your voltage should go up as the rpm increases, even on a flusher.

Perhaps I should have been more explicit. Much depends on the present state of charge of the battery and RPM. Yes it should show some increase right away with an accurate voltmeter. What I meant to say was don't expect a partially discharged battery to jump right up to 13 or 14 volts as a larger alternator would do. It only puts out 6 amps, max.
