I recently bough an 1986 tidecraft with a 1986 90 horsepower mariner outboard and I was just wondering if there was something that would automatically charge my batteries or would I have to do that myself

Re: Battery Question

It's a good idea to charge the battery before the first trip of the year or if the boat has sat for more than month.
But you also want to make sure that your allternator is charging properly. To do that, use a volt meter when the engine is running (with water ear muffs in the driveway or while the boat is in the water) and touch each battery terminal with the voltmeter probes. You should see at least 13 volts.

Mike.
