I have a 85 Bayliner with a 85hp Chrysler force outboard.

Do I NEED a deep cycle marine battery? Can I get away with a regular automotive battery? I dont have any accesories on the boat. Just a cheap tape deck.

Re: Battery question

No, you do not need a deep cycle battery. Yes, you can get away with a cheap auto battery but a marine battery will perform better and last longer.

Re: Battery question

Thats what I though. I have a regular auto battery onhand, I was going to use that for the time being until I can afford a decent battery.

Thanks!
