Have 3 batteries on my boat. 24v trolling motor. How or can I wire batteries to charge off a 2 bank on board charger. Any help appreciated.

Re: Battery Question

This is done all the time but you MUST be sure the charger you use has isolated grounds. The newer smart chargers do and you just connect a set of leads to each battery.

Re: Battery Question

Forget trying to charge all three batteries with a two bank charger. Although it can be done, one bank of the charger trying to charge two batteries will take twice as long to accomplish than the other bank charging just one bank. Trolling motor deep cycle batteries should be recharged as quickly as possible after use. The starting battery is rarely discharged anyway. Just connect one pair of outputs to each battery. If the charger is newer it can be used in a series connected system like your trolling motor. However, if it is an older style that does not have isolated grounds then you will make sparks when you make the connections.
