battery storage in the winter months

I have 4 deep cycle marine batts that I need to store. I was wondering what would be the best way: using a float, or just charging them up every few weeks?

If using a float, is there a way to link all 4 batts to one float, or would I need to get a float for all the batteries?

any insight would be appreciated.

thanks.

Well a decent float charger is about $30 x 4 =120 I would go with the one designed for 4 batteries.... easier and only one plug.

I live in New England... it gets pretty cold here. Can I leave the battery in the boat with the battery tender on or do I need to take it indoors?

Thanks.

I always take them in and put them in my basement on a piece of wood. I have lost too many to winter in the past to risk it.
