This style boat I know was designed for fishing in coastal waters. I live up here in N. Wisconsin near Green Bay. I have an opportunity to purchase a "Bay" style boat at a very reasonable price and was wondering who out there may be using one on fresh water lakes/rivers.

I would use this boat mainly on the "Bay of Green Bay" and larger inland lakes. (ie: Lake Tomahawk, Red Cedar Lake, and other lakes similar to this.) Any feedback by owners would be appreciated.

Well, a picture, make/model might help. I have had bay boats before. They are generally center console, modified v, fairly shallow running boats. I have loved the ones that I have had, on coastal bays and inland lakes here in Texas. My needs are likely different than yours, so you might think about what you want the boat for. There are shallow running boats and SHALLOW running boats, with the more shallow running, the flatter the hull, and the rougher the ride. So, what brand/ make/ model /year are you looking at or send a picture or two....just a thought...

Triton 240 LTS, I've been on the website and drafts pretty close to what I have, just longer and wider.

Re: Bay Boat style!

so, what will you be using it for? A center console like that has little (read 'no' ) protection from the weather. If that is OK for you in Green Bay, then good. That boat will be fast, and will handle low chop good, but will not do well in 4-5 footers..... You will have little freeboard...you might want to think strongly about what you plan to do with the boat....YMMV

Yeah the more I look at it and think about it I am leaning to passing on it. Would of been a fantastic deal I think. Boat was bought new in 2005, has 6 hours on her. Original owner got sick and traded for smaller boat. Hardly been wet. Dealership seems to be motivated to sell it. Continually calling to see if I made my mind up yet! I fish walleyes and smallies as well as pan fish. I live less than 20 mins from the "Bay" and everytime I try to go out i either can't get on the water or get chased off.
