Re: bay boats

A few brands I looked at were:pathfinder, Blazer Bay, Nauticstar, Century (they are out of business). I got a 2001 Pathfinder w 115 yammie 4 stroke with 42 hours on it last year for $9500. Pathfinder's are great. There is also a brand of boat manufactured in Texas called Gator Bay. They are good as well.

Re: bay boats

There are a lot of good boats out there. If you just want to mostly stay in the bay and go offshore only a few miles on calm days there are literally millions of options. If you want to go in the ocean I would suggest at least a 19 footer with a 100 or larger engine. The big brands that are really good are Boston Whaler, Grady White, Pro-line, Parker, Mako, and Hydra Sport. I've either owned or spent a lot of time on all of those brands and they are great. I absolutely love them, but there are other brands that can probably serve you're purposes just as well at a cheaper price. Cape craft, well craft, aqua sport, Carolina skiff, and may craft all make cheap boats that will fulfill you're needs without breaking the bank, but they won't be as reliable or last as long.
