Hi I am new to this site and based in Queensland Australia and wondered if it is possible to purchase a complete dashboard for my Bayliner 175 Capri 2004 model. Ideally I would like it with the gauges but if that is too expensive just the dash and I will swap the gauges. Ant idea where I can get one, how much and if they will post to Oz. Thanks

Thanks. Yep I had to turn my monitor upside down to read one of the posts. The dash is a little blistered where the previous owner didn?t wipe it dry each time and the paint is starting to come off round some switches and dials. I know I can paint it but then all the wording round the switches will not show. Also a couple of gauges don?t work so may need to replace them and am worried they wont match the others hence possible full replacement.

Welcome to iboats!

Such items come up now and again on eBay. Shipping to Oz is likely to be a killer, though.

How about some pictures of the damage so we can give you more-informed advice?

Its pouring with rain at the mo so when it lets up tomorrow I will take some photos, however, all I am really looking for is a website of a company that makes or sells them.

Your boat is new enough that Bayliner may still have them, but, again, price and shipping may make you think twice.

You may want to try the Bayliner forum on here for that info.

Here are a couple of photos of the damage and the type of dash I am after, just want to know where I can purchase one of these at a reasonable price as I assume Bayliner will charge a fortune.

You could save coin, just strip and paint it... If gauges work why replace them... They look nice...

Yeah, that's an easy fix. If you are competent enough to take it apart and pull the gauges, refinishing it is a breeze.

I absolutely agree, you could take that dash off in an hour strip and repaint it or place woodgrain contact paper on it and reassemble it in less then a half day! OR you could send it off to a powder coater and have it back in a week with a great finish on it.

The problem is the labels, which wants to retain or reproduce. Reproducing them, at least the lettering if not the graphics, shouldn't be that much of a problem.

Lipp is right on it...
No need to replace a dash. Powder coating would be my choice. It'll cost a lot less than a new dash, and you can probably get it done locally. Good luck, and let us know how it goes.

PS: WHAT UP LIPP?!!!

Thanks Guys will probably powered coat it locally however a couple of the gauges dont work, water temp and tacho so thought I would ask if I have to replace them. The problems I will have is matching the gauges and think I may need to get a complete new set. There is one on eBay but not sure if they are any good or not. Here is the link if anyone has any advise. You may need to copy and paste the link.

Re: Bayliner 175

Great advice re warranty but as I am in Australia I believe warranty wont work and by the time I send them back and wait for a repair it could be weeks if not months together with the postage it might not be worth it considering those other gauges on eBay are $150 for the complete set and could be with me in 10-15 days. Does anyone have any views on the ones for sale on eBay because if I want them by Christmas I really should order them within the next 24 hours or so.

Not sure the gauge surround is metal? Mine was plexiglass so powdercoating will not work. Also have you verified the gauges don't work themselves or is there possibly an issue with temp sending unit, and or tach wiring?

Re: Bayliner 175

I have 12v to the gauges and when I ground the temp sender the gauge doesn?t move, Also when I put the sender terminal on the gauge to ground the gauge still doesn?t move plus the tacho is stuck on 1000 revs so recon its the gauges.

Thanks everyone for the advice and to close the thread I have just ordered the new set of gauges and will either powder coat the old dash if I can or paint it if not, when I get it out.
