This seems very heavy dosen't it??

Just put my boat back in the water after CopperCoat-ing the hull, and it weighed 6 ton, the boat has a 300hp 4.2L Merc D-Tronic Diesel with a B3 Duo, the water tank was full (filled up with water to flush the system out only to find the water pump wasnt working) about 30 Gal of diesel, fishing gear and a few tools.

the performance was good, it flew straight onto the plain and reached 35mph in no time, but after looking at other threads about weight 4 ton seems more realistic, but mine weights 6 ton?

any ideas??

12,000lbs sounds awfully heavy for a 25' cruiser, yes. That diesel engine would weigh more than a comparable gas engine, but not that much more. And bottom paint adds weight, but not that much.
How did you confirm this weight?

6000 pounds would make more sense

Maybe the copper coating is a little too thick. The 09 265 weight is listed at 5700 with a 5.7 in it. There is no listing for diesel.

A ton is 2000 pounds, so 6 tons is 12000 pounds, take your boat and have it scaled, then scale your trailer empty. Remember to scale your rear axle to find out the tongue weight, both loaded and empty trailer.

I have just emailed the lift manufacturer and questioned them, I should find out in the morning to see how accurate they are.

I agree. If the built in scale is in pounds, then I think it's right on. If it is truly in "tons" then you've got problems.

Re: Bayliner 2556 weight 6 ton?

Hi all

spoke to the manufacturers of the boat lift, and they stated it was quite likley that the lift scale could be out by as much as 2 ton with such a small boat, and that at full lift capacity (75ton) it could be out by 5% which works out as much as 3.75 ton, so I am dissmissing the weight, after all, its a boat lifter not a weigh bridge.

thank you all for your help and advice

I am going to take a shot in the dark here; they charge you by weight?
