i own a bayliner 2655 sunbridge 5.7l OMC engine and need to find out if it is a cobra or a king cobra engine i have looked around the engine with
no success is there any mecanical difference between the two that i could identify the difference .
the cobra and king cobra are outdrives not engines. I think the king cobras have a differently shaped top piece on the outdrive. Im not sure what the actual differences are but the king cobra is usually behind 350 351 454 460 CID motors the differences are probably different str5onger gears to take the extra torque

My cobra has a almost square top plate and a fill dipstick in the middle of the plate. My buddy has a king cobra and his has a hump in the plate. Not sure whats under the hump if anything. he had his outdrive powder coated so it has no stickers or anything on it. mine simply has a cobra round sticker and cobra stickers on the hydraulic rams

I also just bought a 2655 (1988). Do you have the LCD5000 sounder unit on your dash? If so, do you have access to the owners manual or know how to gain access to the owners manual?
