Ok the wife says we "Need a bigger boat".

So I've hit up the used boat sites, put in my budget and the needed length and what came up more than any other boat?

Balyliner 2655. Looking at 1994 - 1999 in year.

Needs:
  • Cruising and Pleasure
  • Fishing (we live on lake michigan, want to mount a few downriggers rod holders and so on)
  • Overnight: Rather then get a lake cottage, we can save some money and get a mobile one.
  • Easy to take care of, and easy to move around.

The wife likes the look of the 2655, but I'm struggling to find any examples of one with downriggers, or any kind of fishing gear setup. It will mostly be a pleasure boat, but i want 2 downriggers and a few rod holders. (all quick release)

Any examples, ideas, input?

Also, I'm reading on the weight of this beast. I've got a Jeep GC with tow package and V8. Living only 10 min away from the boat slip I wonder if I'll have any issues?

Thanks

Re: Bayliner 2655

This is a good choice for what you are talking about. We had a 1998 2655 before we traded up for the Larson. 5.7 with a Bravo III drive. Good gas mileage, plenty of power. Weight with gas and water is going to come in around 7500lbs or so.

We cruised ours a lot. Great overnight boat for two people.
