Just got my nice new Nauticus "Smart Tabs" and guess they are impossible to fit because of the transom sculture. It is not even the same on both dsides. The Port side has a cut away section right where the actuator would fit.

I have a Capri Cuddy..and its a EXCELLENT hull design. You wasted your money. And its enough trouble just finding a flat spot to mount a Transducer!

Contact Nauticus. They may be able to help.

Re: Bayliner Capri and Smart tabs

I do not think I wasted my money as the following attests, Got the smart Tabs installed after confirming my thoughts with Nauticus. Went out to try them out and found the boat behaved violently when hitting the wake of another boat nearly capsized and failed to retrim to back. Shift weight to stbd side and go back to the quay. It occurred to me that the interaction with the outboard foils was causing the problem. Took them off and tried again--------- instant sucess without any further alteration to initial settings. NOTE to anyone considering these Trim Tabs, take the damm foils off first. The boat now does 29.5kts into wind and with some further adjustment think it will be better still. Prior to this struggling to get 22-24kts. The ability to stay on the plane is amazing, excellent control and stability. With only a Force 50hp outboard to play with I am very pleased with the result. I will sell on and now get a Bayliner Cuddy cabin I think, had the boat 6 months and used it for 1 week holiday and two days, not the most cost effective boating I have ever had. Still first time with power boat always had sailboats before.

Rodb;

Thanks for sticking with it until it was correct. We try make it very clear that using a hydrofoil of any kind in conjunction with our Smart Tabs is a no-no.

As for those who think their hull can not be improved with the Smart Tabs - They just do not understand the system and the reasons they work better.

I put a set of smart tabs on a capri cuddy I had and they worked great. The boat planed faster, road smoother and had increased top end.
