I'm looking at purchasing my first boat. I'm considering a few new boats, one of which is the Bayliner Ciera 3055. It seems to offer more boat for the dollar (i.e. bigger than other boats in that class).

Has anyone got feedback on that model or on Bayliner in general? value for the money, performance, handling, overall quality & reliability of the Ciera 3055 and Bayliner as a company, etc...

Anxious to get on the water... with the right boat!

Re: Bayliner Ciera 3055: Satisfied or not??

Hi there, I currently am the proud owner of a 1999 3055 Ciera SE. I have owned the boat for 3 seasons and will soon begin my 4th.

I have the twin 5.7L engines for power. I opted up because of the additional (in 99) 30 HP per engine without any additional weight. Both the 5.0 and 5.7 weigh the same. My fuel usage has averaged about 11.6 GPH over 3 seasons. This is through all throttle settings from idle to WOT. Top end is 47 MPH as measured by my GPS. My cruising speeds are from about 27 MPH to 32 MPH with engine RPM's between 3000 and 3300 RPM. Speed will change according to conditions and top up or top down. I do not have the genny or windless. The handling is fantastic especially because Bayliner chose to put the engines so far apart. It is a little tight getting to the plugs on the starboard engine or the oil filter and plugs on the port engine.

It is the biggest 30 footer on the market. The only 30' boat to offer an 11' beam. There is plenty of storage but then again you can never have enough. I believe it to be a great value for your $. So far the quality has held up very well and I have had no mechanical problems. The key here is maintainance. I pull and inspect the drives each fall prior to winter storage.

The Bayliner 3055 could possibly be the right boat for you, that is a choice only you can make after looking at all the possibilities.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions.

I cannot speak to the 3055, we own a 1996 2858 Flybridge, I can only say that for the money (under $80,000) we have been very happy with it and have not had any problems. Good Luck
