its a roll of the dice. however I believe that in 2007, sugarsand used stringer tubs. doesnt mean that there isnt dead fish between the floor and hull.

older boats have lots of wood

many newer boats have stringer tubs and lots of methacrylate holding them together (glorified superglue) with minimal wood.

if you want a non-flood boat, look to texas or the carolinas where people didnt winterize, and now they have freeze busted blocks

Now that I'm looking into boats with bad motors/outdrives.

I'm finding some that have a volvo penta drive. I have no problem replacing the entire outdrive assembly. But, will the holes line up in the transom? Or do I need to find a mercruiser to make sure everything fits right.

Should be the same. In fact, when I cut the keyhole for my new transom, I used a template for the Volvo Penta SX and it worked perfectly.
