1987 Bayliner Capri cuddy 19'. I am replacing some of the plywood flooring and would like advice on best product for sealing. Is it okay to use allpurpose polyester resin directly on the raw plywood? If not what type of polyester resin would be best. What about a gelcoat on the raw plywood? What about a couple coats of epoxy paint?

Re: Bayliner floor repair

NO on the Gel on bare wood..

No on a few coats of epoxy paint on bare wood.

Basically nothing on raw wood ( Im assuming ply ) besides Glass.

Were talking Decks here..

I would use laminating resin and a few layers of 1.5 oz CSM.

Re: Bayliner floor repair

If your doing the floor really check that transom out good. These are great boats after you remove the rot. Every Baylinner I have heard of in the last few years the transom went south. I thought mine was good and later had to remove the engine to replace it. Wish I had done it the first time. Post some pics we love a good bayliner build. :D
