Somebody needs to tell me what the "pointless negative comment" was? As long as people keep asking the same old questions, the same answers need to be given. If they are going to get the Bayliner lovers response, they need to get the real perspective. Obvioulsy, this guy did not search to get any answers, SO WHAT IS THE PROBLEM WITH GIVING HIM A REAL ANSWER AGAIN?

Well,gee, i guess calling Wilsons comment :stupid & pointless is a well thought out-well researched unbiased opinion???.The whole reason for this forum is for John-Q Public to be able to ask boating questions...No matter how many times its been re-hashed,and get , experienced , knowledgeable help/solutions...No Matter How Many Times its Been Asked !!!SO WHAT if its the same questions, guess what....its a different person asking.So,AGAIN,i say...if you dont like the thread....Why bother chiming in just to insult someone. That, Sir, is the definition of - pointless.

I did not come into this thread just to insult someone. I only said, as I have seen on a lot of other threads, that the subject is a much rehashed topic. My comments after that were concerned ONLY with the topic at hand. For whatever reason Bayliner has this place in it's pockets and I think it is sad that so much biased opinionated so-called advice is being given here that makes Bayliners sound as if they are the best thing since sliced bread. I don't see one review about ANY other boat on this forum, period. Why, well that is left for speculation but I certainly have my opinion. And, I don't see my biased opinion as being any different than any other person's on this board. Someone said in a later post that the thread even though tired an old did not stop me from posting in it. As I said, both sides need to be told and if no one else is going to do it, than I will. And if the moderators wish to shut me up because I have a strong voice, I guess there is not much I can do about it other than to sit back, laugh and let unsuspecting people get hoodwinked into believing something is what it is not. I really don't know why I keep coming to this forum other than the laughs I get from this type of attitude, there is real comedic therapy for me in reading here. Go ahead now, tell me to go away, obviously though I really have very little concern over what people here think about me!

Ha Ha, I was really hoping for a better comeback. Not sure why I would expect something better though, I have come to expect so little from the people around here...and almost everyone lives up to my expectations.

.I dont know why i bother..But, what a sad existence you live,never have i seen where anything of any real value is contributed ,aside from negative,corrosive comments,whose sole purpose is to provoke exactly the same scornful,negative provocative reply . You seem to relish in.Perhaps you need to find a forum for bitter,unhappy Internet bully's such as yourself,you give iboats a bad name amongst new boaters who are looking for decent answers to there questions.If this is the only outlet you have for your apparent attitude disorder i suggest being a Man and grow up, 'cause its real easy to be critical/scornful and downright insulting in the safety and anonymity of your home.

Actually, there was a question asked and I ANSWERED it. Then, someone took a shot at me for calling it a tired old thread. So, I would suggest that you keep you comments to yourself. I completely understand that you all don't want Bayliner bashed for any reason as that may interfere with your income stream, but I will continue to answer them with MY opinion and you all will continue to answer by over praising Bayliners. And BTW, petty shots at me will do little to deter me from speaking my mind. You know what they say, truth hurts.

I have a Bayliner from the so called bad era. It is a 1990 Capri. Some will read this post and say I have no qualifications to even post on this topic but I am doing so anyway. My boat has and is being taken well care of. For this my Bayliner has not given me or my previous owner any trouble. There are many truths to these boats though, they are entry level and are not built as good as some of the better boats. This is obvious from the gate because the price reflects that. Another issue is underpowered, my boat is 18 feet and rated for 90 hp. There is no reason that this boat can not handle 120 hp if not 125. My belief is lower the HP rating and put that lower HP motor on the boat and it looks like a lot of power as the rating is low. Remember this is entry level and costs need to be down. Like I posted in another thread even iboats rates my boat for 125 hp, and Bayliner rates for 90. Anyway enough of my defending of Bayliner, it all boils down to what one can afford to spend AND the upkeep of the boat they are buying. As long as one walks into a deal knowing that rot could be a issue and after inspecting none is found. The boat can be kept that way by taking care of it as the owner before had done.

Facts, who said anything about facts, I clearly stated that was my OPINION, read more carefully next time! Asfar as my crappy attitude, if you had bothered to read my responses at all, they were all in answer to what other people said to me. So, I would appreciate if you as the self-appointed forum police pointed your comments towards the appropriate parties.

WOW...i can't believe this...thought we were all friends...i've been a member since this spring and have thought very highly of all of the people on this forum. Obviously i thought wrong on some. People really need to remember that this is to HELP others and not to BASH others...geeze. Thought we were all here because we wanted to help others that are doing what we love to do. SOME have lost sight of this.

A Bayliner is a boat just like a Chevy is a car. There are cheap Chevys and more expensive Chevys. Gm made some low-end cars. That does nothing to qualify the statement that all GM cars are crap cars that will fall apart at any given moment.

So a Bayliner is just like antother brand of anything. Good and bad can be said.

So if you have one enjoy it and mantain it and it'll be fine.

My recent refit of an 85 Bliner Capri 18.5 wasn't any worse than any boat that was left out in the weather. Also the OMC outdrive works fine.

sarcasm=on "my uncle had one of them thar Bayliners and the day after he got it new he hit a wake and the boat exploded into a million pieces and killed a bunch of bystanders and he got sent to prison cuz he had him a beer on the boat. No Mods tonight but this post will be checked out in the morning.
The whole idea of this site is to be civil and help out fellow boaters.
So what if a Newbie asked an hashed over question.Thats no reason to get a bunch of crap started.
The whole point that ticked me off was i was blamed for being biased and was paid to review some boats and post them in the forum.
I'm sure bayliner pays Iboats a little for the exposure but that pays to keep this forum going and Iboats.
No need to make rude remarks and assume things that are not true.
The wealth of knowledge and help the senior members put into to this forum is a very much a help to new boaters.We should be thankful and civil to each other.

AND NO,I'M NOT BEING A SELF APPOINTED FORUM POLICE. bUT I HAVE FRIENDS HERE AND WE LOOK OUT FOR EACH OTHER.

Looks as tho our brother cordell needs a "well done" for continuing to contribute to my social security today. Also the original post starter has been on this forum since 2004 with over 500 posts. I really had to think if this was a baited question at first.
What a shame we got to where we are by agreeing that you get what you pay for. For the longest time the Bayliner was one of the cheapest boats sold with a not so special motor that got a whole bunch of people out on the water for the first time. If you were really really good with maintenance, most of the problems were fixable.
I guess we can be pretty passionate about our opinions, just sad to see us come to this point of hostility and lack of respect for our fellow members.
