Bayliner Stern Light Wiring Issue

I have a 2001 Bayliner 185. I recently hooked up my stern light as it was beginning to get dark. After installing it and turning on the stern and bow lights I began driving the boat. After a few seconds I got a few warning beeps from my control panel, the fuel gauge began to go to empty, and my gas light on my control panel came on. Once I turned off the switches the warning beeps stopped and the gas began to rise as the gas light went out. I haven't messed around with any of the wiring and I am the original owner. I also tried a different stern light, but same problem exists. Anyone ever see such a strange thing? Any suggestions to repair? Really hate to have a problem if I am out at night.

Thanks,
Rich

Re: Bayliner Stern Light Wiring Issue

I would guess you have a bad ground for the nav lights circuit, causing a power drain for the instrument panel. Do you have the integrated VDO panel?
