Bayliner Trim Gauge

My 1988 5.0L, OMC does not have a trim gauge. I've seen pics from other forum members with the exact same boat that has a factory trim gauge on the right hand side of the instrument panel cluster. What would it take to add one? Should I even try to locate a OEM version? Should I condsider an aftermarket version? What are the pitfalls of trying to do this with either version. I want to know whats going on back there at WOT! I thought of the best place to post this and figured the Bayliner gang would know best, so please give the post a chance.

Re: Bayliner Trim Gauge

Mine doesnt have a trim guage either. needs to be wired in. Personally I could care less about the trim guage. I start with the trim all the way down and adjust as I need it to make the boat ride smooth.<br />Rob

I was told to look for the wiring. It may have the sending unit. I'm doubtful, the wiring diagram has colors for the trim gauge that I'm just not finding. Thanks

Re: Bayliner Trim Gauge

My '87 Ciera has a trim sender unit as well and wiring on the engine harness also (Blue/ Black wires). There was never a gauge installed on this boat so not sure why the factory kept putting them on the drives? I have removed the sender and only raise the drive slightly to improve MPG when cruising. You can tell by the sound when you are too high.
