I was browsing craigslist and found this:

http://southjersey.craigslist.org/boa/907679067.html

It's not far from me so I went to take a look this afternoon, it looks great, clean floor, transom, and even the motor isn't corroded. It had to be a freshwater boat. The guy that has it seems to have inherited it and has no clue and no interest in boats. the battery is dead, its not been run since 2000.
I pulled the hood off and the motor turns, and feels normal.
I'm not sure what these are really worth. If I go by NADA it put the boat alone at about $3000 low retail. This is pretty clean, and I don't suppose will take much more than a battery and maybe some cleaning to get it going again.
The deck is rock solid and no cracks or soft spots, the transom held my 300 or so lbs standing on the outdrive with no flex.
I got the impression that he might take less, but I figured I'd ask here first.

Its a bit heavier than I wanted to deal with but might be a good bay boat to use while I redo my other boat.

For what he's asking it might be worth a closer look. Sure would be nice to be able to get her in the water for a test run - !

I wouldn't have thought a Bayliner of that vintage with a Force would be worth much more than $1500. Especially non-running. You know that motor is going to need carb work as a minimum and then you got that bottom paint to content with.....

the force may run, but a Force of that vintage really has no value, in the market today, their reputation has really devalued them. it's not the motor it was the lack of maintainance. i agree with exombee $1500.

The bottom paint isn't any big deal, that will come right off with soda blasting, I have a buddy that can do that. It caught my eye since I was looking for a better lower unit for my other Force 125 and the sum of it's parts gives the motor some value since it's so clean. The hull is near perfect but I am a bit leery of Bayliner, every one I've seen so far from that era had a rotted deck and transom, this one looks to have been kept dry or is just a much better design.
I'd most likely hang a newer motor, I have a very low hours Merc 150 that will go nice on this boat. My biggest concern would be how much it would take to run new controls whether or not the existing controls would work since the motor I have has flush mounted controls.

Too much $$ IMO. Last year I bought a 1999 Trophy 17CC with 90 HP Merc in turn key for $2600. (I got a really good deal, but yours is still over priced. )

Re: Bayliner Trophy CC?

I looked around today hoping to find a better deal, but the best deal I could find on anything turn key was well over $5000 for similar age CC boats. The only cheap boats were I/O powered or had rotted decks or needed other major work. I looked at one, a similar set up, a 1994 Pursuit CC with only a 90 HP motor and lots of crazing on the gel coat, well faded upholstery, and soft floors for $5500, anything nicer was even higher.
The Trophy is clean and even if I had to hang another motor, it's still a good price going by what else I've seen? I've looked at a few with bad motors too, but most were either junk, too heavy, or way overpriced.
It's really the wrong time here to by a boat, CC boats go crazy this time of year hear. Everyone is looking to get on the water for fall/winter striper season.

I'll just wait till my boat is done if I have to spend big money, I just figured that I could get this boat, get it going and sell it when I'm done. One just like it just sold down the street from me for $6500 running, and it looked far worse. It had been kept in the water since new every year, the motor was badly pitted, the hull had barnacles growing all over and it had lots of dock rash. It sold in two days. I was there when the buyer picked it up, he said he had several of them and loved the hull design. Myself, I'd really prefer a deeper V or steeper dead rise but there aren't many CC boats built that way.
I called the guy and am going over there on Tues, I'll see if I can get it any cheaper.

Are there any known problems with that hull that I don't know about? It don't look like the common Bayliner, no wood deck and the transom is solid.
I'm not a real fan of Force motors but if it runs, great, if not, no big deal.
I really got the impression that it was a running boat owned by an older guy who passed away. The current owner seems to have inherited it, with no real interest in boats. It looked to me like he was more interested in just turning the boat into cash to put into other things. He said he remembers it being used, but its been quite a while, the boat has a 2000 registration on it, but that don't really mean it was in the water then, it could well be just the last time it was registered. Many folks around here keep boats registered just to keep the township off your case since they can fine for unregistered vehicles.

I think if it were a larger boat, it would be a lot cheaper, there's little to no demand for anything much larger around here, boats in the 16 to 20' range bring a premium, especially center consoles. No one wants the larger boats and forget anything with an I/O drive. The big sellers are typically 4 man fishing boats, the smaller the better. I've passed up a dozen larger boats for free.
