I hope they decide to take care of it for you, since it sounds like a mfg defect. One of the things I'll never understand is why they build some boats so that the major components cannot be removed without chopping the boat up.

Have you been in contact with Bayliner Customer Support directly or is the dealer handling all of that interaction?

We got a trouble free 9 years out of our Bayliner and now the new owner is enjoying it.

Speaking as someone who dropped 80K on a Bayliner two years ago I can say I have had NO issues with mine. Yeah you can see where they save cost good example is the cockpit upholstery. Its a solid hull. I have had her out in 6 footers and she never felt like she was going to break apart. I think when they moved the production to the same factory as Searay is when the quality got much better.

As for poor quality, yes they did have some issues in the 80s and 90s but I can't help but think some of those issues were owner inflicted by not knowing how to take care of a boat. They are on the cheaper side and attract first time buyers who don't know a whole lot about taking care of a boat.

4 year old thread!!!!

Yup, why do people think that we didn't notice that? (The 4 year old picture of a boat I no longer own was my first clue). This is the only board I've ever seen where people insist on creating new threads to respond to common issues/questions rather than just adding to existing threads.

I didn't notice it until I got half way down reading the posts which I hate when a thread gets resurrected. It's also against forum rules.

Macshots would get way more viewing of his issue in a new post since it has nothing to do with the thread topic since he has a gas tank issue.

Because as usual, posts to old topics are often off topic. Macshots revival post was off topic. If you go back and read the opening post, the OP simply stated and explained the Bayliner warranty in 2010. While I feel sorry for macshot and wish him the best, he should have started a new topic. If you notice, no Mod or staff member said a word. Members commented on the age of the topic. The same thing happens in other forums where members comment on the re-opening of old topics.

The second issue is posters start to question why we don't allow old topics to be dredged up, as you are doing. Go back and read the rules. This is also contrary to Rule 9.

And the end result is the topic is forced back to the archives, readily available for reading by anyone. This topic is closed.
